What game are you playing/looking towards?

New gacha game out in English this week



(In case anyone can't tell, I'm pretty sure NONE of those voices are the original English voices, even I've decided to play with JP voices)
Fans of Star Ocean or other TriAce things might get a kick out of this. Expect quite a few TriAce & SquareEnix collaborations, including Valkyrie Profile, Resonance of Fate, NieR Automata, and Final Fantasy Brave Exvius.

If you do decide to try it out, here's my recommendation:
- Take Maria as your starter.
- If you join during the launch campaign, use the Launch Coin to trade for the gun Umbral Blast for Maria
- Save gems for the characters you REALLY want
- Don't make summoning multiple copies of characters a priority; even though it will enhance your character, there's other ways to do the same thing.

And let me tell you, this game will not be lacking in sex appeal. Case in point- one of the latest Ace characters to be added in Japan: "Nurse Fiore"

So about that, someone datamined the game and found files for names and manikin names for thirteen characters not yet in the game. Prishe is in there, along with I think every Duodecim character (Aside from Chaos), Zack, Snow, Kam'lanut and Vivi. If it drops in price enough I might pick it up once more characters are out, I loved Gilgamesh and Prishe in Duodecim.

Got Mega Man X Legacy Collection. I'm really bad at MMX games, I had forgotten about that, but it's fun. Eventually I'll probably play X7 just because I never have but I'm leaving that for later.

Well, this has certainly been under the radar. I've barely heard about it myself.

Apparently, there's now a Shin Megami Tensei mobile game- Liberation Dx2. Create a team of 4 demons (plus a friendly fifth) and fight other demons via some digital augmented reality that only you can see. Looks like 4* demons can be created via fusion once you reach a certain player level. 5* demons... have a .5% summon rate.

Honestly, I'd like to get myself a (Night) Succubus; looks like she has a nice, glossy rendering. But here, she's a 4* demon, so either I get lucky in summoning, or I get her via fusion at level 30.

So I've been playing Dx2 since launch and...honestly, it's not worth it. The best part is the battle system ripped directly from SMT and some cute girls, and the rating page for each demon can have some hilarious comments. Resources are scarce, rates are bad, the story is weak, and there are so many annoying things about it that I'm already close to dropping the game.

Maybe I'll quite before I get too deep then. I doubt there's too much as far as SMT demons go that'll interest me beyond Succubus, without going into unique Personas from said series.

Anyways... is this a first?

There is a summon you can get early on where you have a 50/50 chance of getting Titania if lady demons are your focus.

And technically, that design isn't new. It's Terry's Midnight Bliss look from SVC Chaos. They brought it back for this game and made it a canon thing, which is awesome.

Not to mention there's a video of 15 minutes of gameplay as Nero in the Gamescom demo. You get different types of arms with different abilities (two were shown during the demo) and I believe one of them allows you to break it to fire a giant laser that can multihit enemies. XD

The different arms are pick-ups around the stage (sort of like beat-em-up powerups), and you could hold a maximum of four during the demo. I'm guessing you can upgrade the number of Devil Breaker arms you can have in the game, but we'll see. When Nero is missing his Devil Breaker arm, though, he has a sort of funny reload animation (no, you don't actually reload in this game, relax, it's just there for visuals). Aside from that, there's a mechanic where you can actually break your arm to get a sort of super attack with it, giving a high-risk high-reward style of play in that aspect. The laser was one, but I don't know if that's purely for one kind of arm or if it's standard for all arms.

One other cool feature is that the beat of Nero's theme kicks up as your Style score increases, and at S rank you can enjoy some headbanging moments to Devil Trigger as the beat matches how it normally is. Oh, and there's a boss fight at the end of the demo, that giant demon who eats debris and spits it out out of the mouth on its stomach (the same demon that says "I wasn't expecting any survivors!" in the E3 trailer). It's name is Goliath, and during cutscenes, it talks about "becoming king" and "eating the fruit". I'm guessing that has something to do with that tree...

I did notice that there was at least something about those Devil Breakers that makes them something of a limited resource.

It's not the kind of shitty that the latest Langrisser title was like (on top of being a bad game too, from what I hear), but no Urushihara is like Valkyria with no RAITA. It loses a lot of its soul, not to mention its absurdly glossy clothing and GIANT FUCKING PAULDRONS.

Apparently with the Langrisser remakes, it's because Urushihara is now blind or close to it and can't do the art? (Surely someone specializing in mimicking his style could have been hired or at least an attempt made, though...)

I don't have a strong attachment to the series anyways, so I'm not much worried. Hopefully the remakes will be a good time regardless?

As for me, finished up Twilight Princess, enjoyed it, but apparently I missed ONE THING in my no guide run right before the end that's somewhat important, so I have to will myself to do that to have it completed in my head.

I had never heard that. That's actually kinda sad. Though yes, you'd think there would be people much more able to emulate a particular artist's style, especially if said artist was a desired-but-unobtainable factor. Whomever it is doing this just doesn't give off that feeling.

Hmm... I know there's a route where Erwin (MC) and Liana join the bad guys in 2, not sure if Liana was brainwashed into doing it or not though.

I am pleased. Maybe this'll shut the Bungie fanboys up about their misguided ideas of thinking Bungie is good at storytelling.

So a note on the Langrisser remakes, the new art is optional. You can choose between the new art or the old art. Urushihara being blind is a myth too, because he's got new art in the game of a new girl being added to the remake. Here's the art of the new girl by both of the artists.

And suddenly my interest just skyrocketed again.
Though finding other talk of it, it’s first-print DLC. Still a way to screw people, but I guess it could be worse. Now I can just hope for it to be localized (with Urushihara option)

By the way, speaking of Langrisser, there is a mobile game in the works apparently. Probably to cash in and steal Fire Emblem Heroes audience. Artist, again, isn't Urushihara, however, I'm pretty sure what I'm looking at isn't Nagi (Is this really the Ar Tonelico artist? The remake designs are so goddamn lifeless compared to what he was capable of with those titles!), and actually looks so much closer to Urushihara's style, I almost have to wonder why this person wasn't doing the art for Remake.

“Popular” Mobile news: AzurLane is now in English officially.

Personally interested mobile news: Valkyrie Profile event in Star Ocean Anamnesis starting next Tuesday. Limited Ace characters Sword Attacker Lenneth and Bow Sharpshooter Silmeria available to summon.

Been playing a whole lot of Hollow Knight, to the point where I've finished the normal ending. This game is fantastic, absolutely top tier among Metroidvanias. I'd easily put it above any Metroid and right up with Symphony of the Night. Great atmosphere, tight controls and some really cool bosses. It goes in hard on cribbing from Dark Souls, but I don't mind because I like everything about Dark Souls except for playing it. Gotta get true ending and do dlc content now, and then it's Xenoblade 2 time.

Apparently Tales of Berseria is cheap for PS+ subscribers right now. $15.
I'll be honest, Zesteria's combat left a bad taste in my mouth, and the story didn't impress me all that much. Yet it seems like everywhere I go, this semi-prequel is being hailed as one of the best Tales games around, where Vesperia (another I haven't played yet) is the only one better. I'm just not sure where I should be setting my expectations. I kinda liked Graces, Xillia was something of a step down, Zestiria dropped my opinion heavily.

I will say, it's good to clear Zestiria before entering Berseria even though it's a prequel; it'll do a lot to improve your appreciation.

Gameplay-wise, it's absolutely up with the best entries in the series and absolutely worth a play. Plus Magilou is one of the better comic-relief characters in the entire series. Better minigames, good mix of character personalities... It really is excellent.

And, yes, Vesperia is a Gold Standard for a reason.

I've played about 8 hours of Berseria, game is legit. I dig the combo system, characters are fun, good English dub with Cristina Vee as the lead. Pretty solid. My Tales of experience is playing some Vesperia and beating Abyss.

So I bought SNK Heroines against my better judgment, and the game is unfortunately pretty bad. Gameplay is very basic, far more so than Cross Tag Battle, with random items thrown in to make things more chaotic. Customization meanwhile is horribly limited, you can't even mix and match outfits, or have characters wear the outfits of other characters. You can't even do custom colors, or change hair at all.

Have a corrupted girl Terry, this is about the limit of what I was able to do with customization.
