So I'm playing Phoenix Wright and enjoying it, just hit case 5, lovely new characters introduced.

That Star Ocean 5 dub cast sounds stellar.

Okay, kinda blew up there... But you must understand that I was looking forward to these games so much... but since NoA screwed up Fatal Frame 4 by making it digital only and too big for most the hard drive kinda was the first nail in the coffin, then came the avalanche of nails from the Fire Emblem and Bravely Second controversies(from back when they were released into Japan to even now) and Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem was the last...



There were two good things, and one bitter sweet thing... Star Fox 0 looks more like 64 in gameplay style which is great. Apparently they got a negative feedback from gamers about it simply being a dump of Wii U gimmicks and were fixing up that(hence the delays). The best thing from this conference was the new Kirby game, give it a look, it's fantastic... MECHA KIRBY!

The bittersweet thing is New 3DS are getting Super Nintendo games like Mario World and Super Metroid. The downside is they won't work on old 3DSs

Rainday the lowest professional review Fire Emblem Fates has gotten is a 7/10 for the Conquest version. The highest is a 9.5 for I don't remember. The game itself is good despite the censoring done during localization.

Okay, so I picked up Bravely second a couple of days ago. Haven't had much time to play so far.

But...

One of the new enemies is the 'Ice Princess' a demon witch on a broomstick. Casts sleep spells and 'Beauteous Blizzard'
The journal entries for this enemy are great, she keeps male victims in blocks of ice under the ground, all with a vacant happy expression on their face. Apparently they feel warm and sleepy before their doom.

No word on female victims, but I'm sure everyone in this group has some ideas.
(I know I do)

*Despite the censoring and poor localization/gross negligence in which lines(both voiced and actual dialog) are cut, characters are altered, a gameplay element was removed as well as all the dialog associated with it, memes are thrown in, and they didn't bother to put any effort into the lesbian route and just copy/pasted the hetero romance... Things are cheapen, dulled, and altered just because a group of people went "let's 'improve' this and make it appeal to the widest market"(aka the lowest common denominator), and it physically sickens me. Makes me feel like I or fans of the series don't matter to them. So I wouldn't have any fun playing the current version and would be repulsed.

Judging by the bestiary, I'm guessing there will be 4 variations on the 'witch' family. I haven't had a chance to get much farther yet, but updates when I find them.

Also, not sure if this is just coincidence, but I've noticed that she only seems to use 'Sleep" on Male characters and 'Beauteous Blizzard' on female.

Rainday while I too dislike the Glitter Force localization because of similar reasons to yours and because of the fact the original Pretty Cure series already got an English Dub made in the UK, the fact of the matter is that Saban did the same with Power Rangers & several other series that succeeded quite well. I'm sure there were similar complaints to yours at the time of course but we might never have known of the series in any way if it weren't for efforts like this. So try to look at it like that.

Played a little farther, have encountered harpies that remind be of siren from FFVIII and just now a Mummy girl with what look like bandage tentacles for ensnaring. She even has an attack called 'Sleeping beauty'
I'm hoping this trend of Monstergirls continues.

But those localizations were aimed at making those series more kid friendly and dumbed down. Any attempt to do that to series meant for older audiences, while popular at first, has always faltered due to fan demand for the original. See Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, and now even Sailor Moon, all taken away from their original US rights holders and restored to their original release states with great dubs. However what we are talking about are games made for teens and adults, and unfortunately they don't have that same chance.

However, I have new evidence that the European version of Bravely Second has removed something very near and dear to our hearts.

It appears the trend of cutting dialog(both written and voiced) has extended not only to Fire Emblem Fates, but Bravely Second as well. The European version is apparently cutting ALL bad endings from side quest. They are taking story experiences and choice out of the game and apparently this affects the game's main ending as well. So the game will no longer reflect your decisions by not giving you any to make.

With this I would like to bring a popular theory that has become apparent ever since the Fire Emblem cut and memed dialog. The current localization process is not only about censorship, but also cutting cost by not having to properly translate lines, pay voice actors to voice dialog that were voiced in the japanese version, and straight up rewriting characters into their own versions so as to not properly convey them. These are instead rushed hack jobs that don't even deserve to be known as localizations.

Okay, calming time.


Hehehe I checked this before I went to spent to bed and spent my time trying to find a better quality picture of Katsuragi's boob empire... I can't believe I totally missed that because it was in Bon Appetite, but that is the perfect picture and worth a sighting I say( apparently all the girls in her kingdom let her do whatever she wants to them, and with the line up of harem girls she has in that picture that definitely has to be MC).

But yeah, I may just take up watching run throughs of Shinovi Versus for the story since I have no plans to pick up a Vita anytime soon. On the plus side I am cashing some paychecks soon so I'll have enough to preorder Estival Versus. I still need to get Crimson 2 as well but there will be time for that. Looking forward to all the new mechanics =)

Well, that looks like a nice little empire.

As for the localization censorship.... That'swhy I avoid the Internet.
I can be perfectly happy playing a game until I find out what I'm missing.
I'm a little upset about the 'no bad ending' but I guess that all the characters did get killed off a few times in the original, so maybe they deserve a break.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to go 'fight' dancing Mummy girls.

Played a bit farther in Bravely Second.
The Succubi from the original return with charm attacks in the Mithril mines (same appearance as before.)
New enemy in the forgotten aqueduct is the Witch, uses the same base as the ice princess, but with pale blue shin and a heavier fringe over the eyes (hair is black with pink tips) thigh highs are a red colour. Uses fire attacks and 'Bewitch' to charm party members. My new favourite enemy.

On a personal note I am enjoying them as you see the positive and negative outcomes of your choice, there isn't a perfect choice, it comes down to your own values (or what job asterisk you want)

... Interesting... Though I'm still a little hazy on the details as to what was lost... Endings where Edea was unsure? I suppose if they meant that they replaced endings where Edea was questioning herself but didn't affect the outcome, that might be something...

Also, I heard that there was a bunch of audio issues for the demo, most noticeably whenever females spoke(most notably Magnolia) that made them sound like they had a lisp... Supposable this was due to sound compression for the demo's sake... I've also heard that there might be a little bit in the main game, but it shouldn't be nearly as bad as the demo... Still until the game comes out I have no way of confirming that it get's better... And I heard Magnolia and OW.

Anyway it's been a really rough week, but I finally got to play some Estival Versus finally yesterday, so very fun and pretty(keep in mind I'm coming into this from Burst). Completed the first two "sections" of missions which were enjoyable. Also did some editing with the diorama... Nothing major but the heart effects raise possibilities~ Now I just need to find a good way to transfer them over...

Shinovi Versus stories:

It was certainly feeling that way. Especially in the OVA that came with the japanese game that is a little prequel to all this(nothing too special, it's just the hot spring's incident they keep referring to, nipples, and gaintess). Even that was more geared to Gessen though. I know the basic's of the backstory for them and of most of the Hebijo girls too, just not the inbetweens.

I'll do some more reading on them and maybe watch some stuff.

Senran Kagura breathes good vibes into me...  It's so nice after a long bad week.

Notes
Mirai's bracelet says something quite amusing(besides her Star Platinum Jojo references on her other clothing).
I made Yozakura by giving her the Nanako(P4) haircut, and also the bangs haircut(when transformed) which make her look like a grunt/flunkie.
Make Ikaruga stand out more by giving her the dealers outfit with a devil tail and bunny ears.
Beat Murakumo's story, quite enjoyable, also found out that's how you get characters hair available for other characters.
I just beat day 3 or 4 of the main game, sometimes it really feels like you need to level every character early with these horrid rankings I'm getting, but then again that might also be due to character unfamiliarity(had to actually retire twice with Kafuru)
