A cursed mirror of-
Mirror, Mirror, in darkness be...
What is the greatest image for all to see?
The hidden emotions from deep within one's soul? Their true desires? The feelings they refuse to admit? (Persona 4's Shadows in a way. But imagine them actually being more related to actual desires, not obscene mockups of their emotions)
What about an image they have not seen, an image to give them a desire which they lacked? (For reference, an image I did of Celes with a seductive image of herself in the mirror, captioned by Rainday. She saw herself in the mirror, and after a while, she couldn't remove the idea from her thoughts)
An image that shows what cannot be seen, the driving forces behind such events? (Usually possession, or that "voice in the head" deal. You can see who or what is truly causing such strange abnormalities with the viewer of the mirror)
Or the image that should no longer be an image? A dark being of stronger willpower that would be much better suited to play the role, therefore, should switch with the viewer? (Should be obvious)

Ooooooooh, these are so freaking hard to choose from >_< I mean, the first one is just so good for the troubled heroine, and can tip her off the edge. It creates so much beautiful drama, oooh, and if others see it it's just lovely. Causing her to feel alone and isolated~ Causing her constant doubt~ While by itself it's usually not enough to trigger a EC, with a encounter with a villainess during or afterwards it leads to such wonderful things.
The second is another favorite of mine for more stronger heroines, and is most fitting to sway them to the dark side of their own will. It's not a fight against some evil, but rather with a new alluring idea, one which they want to dip into more than struggle. Curiosity filling their heads, and in the end they can become more dominate and happy when they indulge, living out their own enthralling fantasy.
The third one gets a lot of use because it's really easy and takes on a more traditional hypnotizer/hypnotizy role. It provides for a good amount of back and forth and usually involves a villainess in some way. Add in that the mental voice is just almost impossible to resist because you have no idea how to fight it as the mirror shows you more and more tempting images and it lends itself very well to a actual entrancement.
The forth one is always fun as it itself is the villainess and can produce a similar effect to the 3rd though it generally works more on confusion and erosion of self-esteem, turning any confident heroine into a weak victim. And of course what we usually get is a more confident, seductive version of the heroine with evil intentions while the true one can only watch helplessly in the mirror world, even possibly being forced to mirror every action when the doppelganger is in front of a mirror, becoming nothing more than a true reflection, or be detained by other such creatures in the mirror realm.
As for which one I would pick... Can't say at the moment, but I hope the above helps others consider all the angles.
